Peace of God

There is a lot of noise in the world today. Things are chaotic, crazy, and loud. Everyone seems to be on edge, running back and forth, here and there. There are nations at war, people fighting on the streets, and there is unrest within the family. It’s truly a time of discord, disagreement, hatred, frustration, and worry.

I know that in my household when the sense of peace is lost, there is an atmosphere of unease in the home. There’s a real fog that hangs over us and weighs us down. It can seem like peace has left and will never return.

We can regain that peace. We can once again find that peace “that surpasses all understanding.”

We won’t find peace in self-help books, nor in our world leaders. We won’t find peace in activism nor escapism. We won’t find peace in the religions of the world nor in believing in ourselves.

Peace between God and man was shattered one day long ago in the garden when sin entered the world. Peace would never be realized unless a sacrifice was made to appease a holy God.

Jesus Christ atoned for and made peace with the sacrifice of Himself. Matthew Henry says, “He is the author, center, and substance of being at peace with God.”

Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, do I give to you.”

Jesus Christ is our peace amid a confused and unsettled world. But His peace transcends ordinary peace. Those whose hearts are anchored in Him rest securely in peace even while surrounded by disorder, chaos, and fear.

Peace, the only real peace we are longing for, can only be found in Jesus Christ. Christ Jesus is not just the giver of peace, but peace itself.

This weekend, we will look at what real peace is, where it comes from, and how we can obtain it. I invite you to attend our “Peace of God” conference and see what it means to be at peace.
